Open Source ESBs

Abstract

Besides the wide variety of open source tools and frameworks for application development, the support for enterprise integration is growing fast. This presentation will provide the attendees with an overview of Open Source ESBs currently available. We will focus on the core functionality that an ESB should provide, including routing, transformation, message enhancement, reliability and security and look at how this is implemented within Mule, ServiceMix and OpenESB.

Besides a detailed overview of these core functionalities we will also look into a lightweight approach to do integration design with Open Source ESBs based on a case study. Because the implementation model of the discussed Open Source ESBs is very different, we will discuss the main differences between JBI and other implementation models.

The session will be very practical, with lots of code examples. To show the attendees how to implement the examples, we will also do live coding. The content of this session will be based on the forthcoming Open Source ESBs in Action book of Manning (www.manning.com/rademakers).
