Abstract
The first part of 'RIA using Swing' university talk is a more introductory talk of what is possible with Swing today and some best practices. The talk in the afternoon will use this as a basis to show you how to make those beautiful Swing applications.

We design and create software for users. Unfortunately, we easily forget that the users are actually human beings. They dread complexity and hard-to-use tools. This talk will present UI design techniques that you can use to make your application easier to use.
Do not expect complicated code snippets or advanced graphical effects; this is all about regular applications.
Enterprise Development with SwingLabs
The SwingLabs project contains some very useful visual and non-visual components for writing enterprise applications. We'll cover the 10 most useful Swing components in SwingLabs as well as simplified web service support for Swing applications.
