Project Semplice

Abstract

Project Semplice consists of a BASIC compiler for the Java VM and first class Sun tools support. If one is familiar with Microsoft(R) Visual BASIC(R), one will be familiar with Project Semplice BASIC.

The compiler compiles BASIC to .class files (i.e., it is a "real compiler" – not a translator) and performance is similar to Java language programs.

In addition to providing up to date information on the project, we will demo the following:

1.Build a Project Semplice BASIC application using NetBeans.
2.Import a Microsoft Visual BASIC language project into NetBeans and run it with no modifcations. Then, mondify and run it.
3.Show an application that calls Java language code from BASIC code.
4.Show a Project Semplice BASIC application running on a Java phone.
5.Provide up to date performance benchmarking information on Project Semplice.
