Abstract
This university session will present a very pragmatic and simple approach to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), demonstrating how it is possible today to build a composite application using existing standards and tools. We will alternate presentations and demonstrations on service creation/discovery, assembly, orchestration, security as well as test.
Content:
- briefly review the basic concepts of SOA.
- decompose a business problem into a set of services
- learn how to build standards-based services
- wire and virtualize web services as well as legacy assets using an Enterprise-Service Bus (ESB)
- orchestrate artifacts into an executable business process using Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)
- review security strategies
- explore a layered testing approach for SOA using tools such as JMeter, Hermes JMS and JUnit.
- finally, we will briefly touch upon the future directions of SOA and the undergoing standardization efforts around JBI, SCA and BPEL4People.
