After three years spent at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) doing research on information repositories then PDA security for the National Security Agency (NSA), Thomas Heute became a contributor of the JBoss Portal project. He officially joined JBoss in 2004 as JBoss Portal developer then as project leader of Seam.
