Abstract "BPEL4WS V1.1 to WS-BPEL 2.0, a migration path"

BPEL4WS V1.1 is a popular OASIS committee draft for the specification of business processes and business interaction. BPEL4WS V1.1 has short-comings that will be addressed by the next version of the specification, named WS-BPEL 2.0, which is targeted to be released towards the beginning of the following year of 2006. WS-BPEL 2.0 has considerable differences to its previous 1.1 version. These differences include syntax changes to the language, inclusion of new features such as parallel for-each, and modifications to the semantic of existing constructions, such as compensation handling. We will provide a step-by-step tutorial on how to migrate existing business process and explain when a migration is not possible thus resulting in re-write.
