Abstract 'Apache MyFaces'

Apache MyFaces is the first free open source JavaServer Faces implementation on the market. It is fully compatible with the reference implementation from Sun, but adds many features web developers all over the world have come to appreciate.

Along with the implementation, you get a suite of advanced component libraries, making Enterprise application development signifcantly easier, and a lot more fun. MyFaces Tomahawk components are available today, MyFaces Tobago is currently in the Apache Incubator, and a new MyFaces subproject, formerly known as ADF Faces, is primed and ready to enter the Apache Incubator.

Together, these component libraries will provide over 150 components, such as trees, calendar controls, extended data tables, highly interactive AJAX-enabled components, as well as lots of features like RenderKit skinning, dialog framework, and a menu model, helping you to quickly deliver more effective web applications.

After looking at what makes Apache MyFaces special in the JSF implementation market, we will create a small sample app - we will have enough time to discuss what makes a JSF web-app a good JSF web-app.
