Hi,
I am new in Javapolis, but for what I´ve read, neither me or my people at work will miss it this year. Any ideas of when is it taking place? How to subscribe? where?

I can see lots about 2004, but nothing about the future activities. Anybody giving some info will be very welcome.

Thanks
D.

Hope this helps

First they have to list the courses! Which will be some time. I registered in September last year I think.

Last year I only attended for the first 4 days and regretted omitting the 5th - business day. This year I'm staying for all 5!

Stephan,

I picked this up from your post on Javalobby - but thought the question better asked here where more people can see it:

You wrote about the 2005 itinerary: "
a) JavaPolis University
b) JavaPolis Conference
c) JavaPolis Solutions
d) Business round-table
e) BOFs "

I think we had a, b, d, & e last year. But what is JavaPolis Solutions?

Posted by Donald Stadler at May 22, 2005 12:02 | Permalink

The solutions day will be the third and final day of the JavaPolis Conference, which is this year 3 days instead of 2. During that day we'll have the methodology and architecture presentations but that day will also finish a bit sooner than last year.

The round-table is a more business focused event which will probably take place in another location. More information will follow...

Hi Doris,

I feel your impatience, but please understand that it is waaaayyyyy too early for a conference to have anything down. It's more than 6 months until Javapolis 2005, and I doubt that any of the competing conventions have much information available 6 months before opening.

I'm just another attendee (first-timer in 2004). All I can say is that Javapolis was completely awesome! A million thanks to Stephan and all the wonderful people at BEJug! The breadth and quality of the offerings was impossible to describe. Take it from me - it's incredible value whether it's at 200 euros like last year - or even a bit more. I looked into going to Java One this year - and it's about triple the cost flying from the UK and staying in San Francisco. SF is a great town but the conference fee is too much!

Now that I know it's in Antwerp again & when I can book my room early this year. I think I'll go for a B&B this year. I stayed at the International Zeemanshuis last year and it was great except for the matresses. The hardest beds I can ever remember! If you want a bargain and can stand hard beds it's a great deal. Can't beat your fellow guests - sailors in the lobby!

BTW, Antwerp is great at Christmastime. I loved the centre of Antwerp.

Thanks Donald,

It sounds good. What you say about the hotel is one of the reasons why I would like to know as soon as possible. I wouldn´t like to miss the good accomodation.
And thanks for the Christmas market tip. I love those. Specially for the hot wine.
BTW my name is Dolores sorry, not Doris.

Dolores,

Sorry for getting your name wrong!

I doubt that Javapolis will have many links to the best cheap accomodation in Antwerp. My guess is that they will make cut-rate arrangements with one or more of the better business hotels in Antwerp - although they could surprise me!

This is great if your employer is paying for it and you can afford 100 euros+ a night. I am a self-financing tightwad, so I look for alternatives.

Besides, I find business hotels boring. If I'm going to splash out for a room I want something atmospheric and unique. The Zeemanshuis qualified on every count except comfort.

I think you need to do the research yourself. I bought a guidebook for last years conference.

Do you know of any good hostels in Antwerp, Stephan?

Not really, but there should be enough attendees from the area around Antwerp whom can maybe suggest some fair priced and atmospheric hotels in Antwerp....
